Artistic Director's Message
In 1986, a group of Port Colborne citizens got together to
bring professional theatre to their community. And since
then, the Showboat Festival Theatre has been producing
the finest in professional summer theatre in Port Colborne,
on the shores of Lake Erie.
To celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we are very proud to
present four shows that will bring romance and wit, thrills
and chills, music and laughter to the beautiful theatre in
the round at The Roselawn Centre. We kick of the season
with a comedy of crosswords and romance in our Ontario
Premiere of 2 Across. We follow up with the classic
Canadian thriller, I’ll Be Back Before Midnight, last seen at Showboat in 1987. The fun continues with a brand new oldies musical, Back in ‘59, featuring hits from the late 50s-early 60s. The season wraps up with
Mending Fences, a wonderful comedy by Norm Foster.
And that’s not all! For 2011, The Showboat Festival Theatre is reaching out beyond our regular season. Mama’s Country Record Collection, our much loved hit musical from 2010, will be hitting the road, playing in theatres across Ontario from May to September. And for one-night-only in July, we bring you Shakespeare On The Lawn, featuring Driftwood Theatre’s acclaimed production of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. This open-air production performed in the Roselawn gardens featuring Stratford Festival veterans is sure to thrill fans of the Bard.
The Showboat Festival Theatre is a truly unique experience, Ontario’s only full-time professional Summer Theatre In The Round. Come join us at the Roselawn Centre and beyond as we celebrate 25 years of laughter, thrills and great theatre in 360°.
